Learning in Vicenza

For schools, for families, for everyone. A place of discovery, growth and inclusion: at Gallerie d’Italia in Vicenza, children, students, people with physical, cognitive or sensory impairments, and foreign nationals, will all find a place in which to explore and discover something new.

With the aim of making art more approachable to the young, Gallerie d’Italia in Vicenza promotes and organises lots of activities to make culture pleasant and accessible to all.

For the 2022/2023 school year the education programme includes lots of innovative and dynamic initiatives, spanning from antiquity through to the present day, developed with different methodologies, that allow for in-depth transversal thematic itineraries in an environment that encourages dialogue and development.

Particular attention is paid to the development of projects to support students with specific disabilities, to make the museum an accessible and welcoming place for all.

Activities can take the form of in-person workshops, with creative experiences to carry out independently at school, with tutorials and supporting materials that enable participating classes to complete any work started at the museum independently.

Throughout the school year in-depth meetings are also periodically held for teachers to coincide with new exhibition projects or special initiatives at the Gallerie.

Gallerie d’Italia - Vicenza and Fondazione Querini Stampalia have organised A journey with Pietro Longhi, an initiative designed in particular for primary schools.

The guiding thread behind the project is the celebrated 18th-century Venetian artist Pietro Longhi, whose works – a journey back in time to the Venice of his day through portraits depicting the nobility and local people – are among the masterpieces from art collections on display at the two museums.

Two of the artist’s paintings side by side to tell the story of an exciting adventure: the arrival of an elephant in the Venetian Lagoon in 1774.

The initiative is designed to be taught remotely, with video materials, a creative tutorial and an activity sheet. All materials can be requested free of charge from:

The project may continue with guided tours for classes at the two museums (free and booked in the same way).

The project is part of a partnership between Intesa Sanpaolo and Fondazione Querini Stampalia, which has hosted the Bank’s artworks from the Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia collections at its premises since November 2018.
