On the centenary of his birth, one of the literary themes that the great writer indicated as values to be preserved in the new millennium inspires us once again. “Six Memos for the Next Millenium”, published posthumously in 1988 and conceived as a series of lectures for Harvard University, opens with a tribute to “lightness”. For the new concert season Pomeriggio tra le muse 2023 - 2024, Ensemble Musagète proposes “lightness” as a quality of numerous chamber music compositions: from Schubert and Schumann to Debussy and Stravinsky. “Eliminating weight” can also be interpreted as a form of reduction: the offering of transcriptions that limit the grand orchestra to just a few instruments, highlighting the essentiality of musical composition. Great masterpieces of 19^th and 20^th century symphonic music are played in the wonderful Apollo room at Palazzo Leoni Montanari. Also this year Dialogues in Music and previews of some concerts in selected venues around the city are proposed for schools.
