TAG

To mark the 2025 edition of miart, dedicated to the famous American artist Robert Rauschenberg on the centenary of his birth, the vault of the Gallerie d'Italia - Milan will be hosting an exceptional exhibition of three works by the artist selected from the Luigi and Peppino Agrati Collection: Scripture, 1974; Gulf, 1969; Clearing, 1969.

The three works will act as an evocative accompaniment to another masterpiece, Blue exit, created in 1961, presented during the fair - a project curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, associate curator of Intesa Sanpaolo's modern and contemporary art collections - in the Intesa Sanpaolo Group Lounge. The dual initiative represents a commemoration and tribute to the American artist by Intesa Sanpaolo and Gallerie d'Italia.

The caveau

The caveau of the Gallerie d'Italia in Milan's Piazza della Scala, designed in the early years of the last century by Luca Beltrami, features a singular and symmetrical compositional design: the space is supported by two imposing columns of an explicit Doric order, with pulvinos with triglyphs. Today, the place, which can normally only be visited by appointment via guided tours, no longer contains security boxes, but holds something equally precious: around 500 paintings belonging to the Intesa Sanpaolo collection. The works of art are hung on sliding mesh panels, with an optimal system for storage and conservation, designed to keep the works on view, almost as if to create small, unexpected exhibition itineraries.
