From 7 July to 3 September 2023, Palazzo Strozzi welcomes Yan Pei-Ming. Painting Histories, the biggest exhibition ever dedicated in Italy to the French-Chinese artist. Celebrated for a profound and passionate reflection on painting in contemporary art, Yan Pei-Ming's monumental canvases unite history and contemporaneity, prominent works of art, public figures and intimate subjects.
The exhibition, curated by Arturo Galansino, General Manager of the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation, proposes an itinerary of over thirty works that explore the artist's powerful and original research into the relationship between image and reality, in a fusion of personal life and collective history, symbols and icons of culture and art history that span East and West.
The exhibition has also given the participants of the advanced training course NAPOLI → FIRENZE. THE ART OF CREATING EXHIBITIONS an unprecedented opportunity to take part personally in the installation at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, working directly with artist Yan Pei-Ming and curator Arturo Galansino.
This activity has concluded the programme of the first edition of the Gallerie d'Italia Academy course devised and realised with the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation and in partnership with Digit'Ed.
Thanks to the partnership with Intesa Sanpaolo, institutional patron of the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation, holders of tickets to the Gallerie d'Italia, Galleria di Palazzo degli Alberti and Casa Museo dell'Antiquariato Ivan Bruschi will receive discounted admission to the exhibition. Vice versa, Palazzo Strozzi exhibition ticket holders will receive discounted admission to each of the four Gallerie d'Italia venues and to Casa Museo dell'Antiquariato Ivan Bruschi.
