"Anish Kapoor. Untrue Unreal" at Palazzo Strozzi

Florence - Palazzo Strozzi

From the 7th of October 2023 to the 4th of February 2024

From 7 October 2023 until 4 February 2024, at the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, Anish Kapoor. Untrue Unreal, the new major exhibition by the celebrated artist who revolutionised the idea of sculpture in contemporary art.

Curated by Arturo Galansino, the exhibition, with Intesa Sanpaolo as main partner, was conceived and realised together with the well-known international sculptor. It proposes an itinerary made up of monumental installations, intimate environments and provocative forms, which creates an original and involving interaction between works,
architecture and the public. An invitation to visitors call into question their own senses.

The exhibition presents historical and recent works, including a new production created specifically in harmony with the architecture of Palazzo Strozzi's Renaissance courtyard: an opportunity to come into direct contact with Anish Kapoor's art, in which the unreal is mixed with the untrue.

A special intervention by Anish Kapoor in Italy is Parabola (2004), part of the Intesa Sanpaolo contemporary art collections and featured in the “Fuorimostra” exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi.

The work, an imposing grey monolith, with two large smooth circular cavities hollowed out in the upper part of both sides, is located inside the ancient cloister of the former Monastery of Santa Marta in Bergamo, in the historical building of the Banca popolare di Bergamo, now Intesa Sanpaolo.

A video created on purpose on this artist’s work will be available for the public visiting the exhibition.

Thanks to the partnership with Intesa Sanpaolo, institutional supporter of Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, holders of tickets to Gallerie d'Italia, Galleria di Palazzo degli Alberti and Casa Museo dell'Antiquariato Ivan Bruschi, will receive discounted admission to the exhibition. Vice versa, Palazzo Strozzi exhibition ticket holders will receive discounted admission to each of the four Gallerie d'Italia venues and Casa Museo dell'Antiquariato Ivan Bruschi.

Furthermore, discounted admission to the exhibition Anish Kapoor. Untrue Unreal is available to Intesa Sanpaolo customers.
