Intesa Sanpaolo renews its support in the role of main partner to miart, a long-standing link which bears witness to the Group’s constant cultural support of the territory, with the aim of consolidating Milan’s centrality in the national and international modern and contemporary art world and offering the city an additional boost to economic, cultural and civic growth and development.
The Bank will contribute to the 2025 edition with original contents of outstanding artistic value, dedicated this year to showcasing of a selection of masterpieces by Robert Rauschenberg from the Luigi and Peppino Agrati Collection, a prestigious collection of contemporary art which is now part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group's artistic heritage thanks to the legacy of Cavalier Luigi Agrati, in the Group's lounge area and in the vault of the Gallerie d'Italia in Piazza della Scala in Milan. These initiatives have been realised in synergy with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and miart, included among the Foundation's International Partners on the occasion of the artist's centenary.
The caveau of the Gallerie d’Italia will be open to the public by appointment and will be hosting an exceptional exhibition of three works by the artist selected from the Luigi and Peppino Agrati Collection: Scripture, 1974; Gulf, 1969; Clearing, 1969.
The three works will act as an evocative accompaniment to another masterpiece, Blue exit, created in 1961, presented during the fair - as part of a project curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, associate curator of Intesa Sanpaolo's modern and contemporary art collections - a remarkable example of the "Combine Painting” series, which consecrated the American artist as one of the leading figures in great international contemporary painting. Visitors will also be able to admire the graphic reproduction of another work, Earth Day, a symbol of the environmentalist cause.
The dual initiative is a tribute by Intesa Sanpaolo and Gallerie d'Italia to the American artist.
