From 17 October 2025 to 1 December 2025, at Villa Cusani Confalonieri in the municipality of Carate Brianza (MB), Fondazione Costruiamo il Futuro - with Intesa Sanpaolo and Gallerie d’Italia - continues the project for the dissemination of art and culture in Brianza for the third year running.
The exhibition, in collaboration with Galleria Borghese in Rome, proposes a moment of celebration dedicated this year to Titian Vecellio, with the work "Venere che benda Amore" (oil on canvas, 1565), on loan from the acclaimed Roman museum.
The painting, purchased by cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of Pope Paul V, from the collection of cardinal Paolo Sfondrati, is one of the pinnacles of the late production of the great master from Pieve di Cadore.
It portrays the goddess Venus, wearing a golden crown, as she blindfolds Cupid. A cherub rests on her shoulder while two handmaidens hold a bow and a quiver. The mythological subject, which is rare in western art, bears witness to Titian’s originality in interpreting profane subjects, filling them with profound symbolic value: Cupid, and therefore love, blind by nature, escapes every human attempt to be rational.
After the deeply significant experience of the previous editions dedicated to Marco d'Oggiono with "La madonna del Latte" in the municipality of Oggiono (2023) and to "Narciso" by Caravaggio in Merate (2024), the arrival in Carate Brianza of a masterpiece of such great importance offers an exceptional opportunity to rediscover not only Titian’s greatness but also to further our knowledge of a moment in history that greatly influenced the fae of modern Europe.
The exhibition is curated by Giovanni Morale, Deputy Director of Gallerie d'Italia – Milan, and is accompanied by a dedicated publication, with media partnerships including il "Giornale dell'Arte".
