The exhibition is promoted by Fondazione Costruiamo il Futuro with Intesa Sanpaolo and Gallerie d'Italia, in collaboration with the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana and the Municipality of Oggiono. As the 500th anniversary of the death of Marco d'Oggiono (1524-2024) approaches and as part of a project of cultural dissemination in the Brianza area, the Foundation is proposing a celebratory event dedicated to the 16th-century artist, a pupil of Leonardo, in his hometown. To this end, the Mayor of Oggiono has set up a Committee of Honour for the five-hundredth anniversary of this distinguished citizen of Oggiono, of which this exhibition is an important preamble.
The exhibition will focus on the work La Madonna del Latte, a panel which, following extensive restoration work carried out by the Luigi Parma laboratory in Milan, has recently returned to the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan, from which it had been stolen in the middle of the last century, thanks to the intervention of the Carabinieri of the Nucleus for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Monza in 2021. The work will remain on display free of charge to visitors in the Council Hall of the Municipality of Oggiono.
The exhibition will be curated by Giovanni Morale - Deputy Director of the Gallerie d'Italia di Milano - and will be accompanied by a publication produced by patron, collector and publisher Paolo Cattaneo, from Oggiono.
Ticket holders will be entitled to reduced admission to the Gallerie d'Italia branches until 31 December 2023.
