Advanced training course in "Management of artistic-cultural heritage and corporate collections" - VI edition - 2026

Gallerie d'Italia Academy Executive Course

For 2026 Gallerie d'Italia Academy proposes the sixth edition of the Executive Course “Management of artistic-cultural heritage and corporate collections”, created with the support of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation and the Cariplo Foundation, in collaboration with the 1563 Foundation for Art and Culture and Digit'Ed, and with the scientific contribution of the National School of Cultural Heritage and Activities Foundation. It draws on the collaboration of university teachers, professionals, cultural and business managers, museum directors and officials, and experts with recognized experience.

Objectives of the advanced training course

The advanced training course aims to equip professionals in the sector with the necessary skills to:

- promote and develop collaborations between public and private entities

- contribute to innovative policies and effective protection, management and valorisation practices

- acquire multidisciplinary knowledge and specific managerial skills.

Who is the Course aimed at

The recipients of the advanced training course are 30 professionals with at least one year of work experience in public or private institutions in the cultural and/or historical-artistic field and in possession of a three-year degree, or old system.

How the Course is structured

The Course is structured in:

Language: Italian

Duration: 144 hours of in-person lessons + 18 hours in webinar mode provided via the e-learning platform of the National School of Heritage and Cultural Activities

Methodology: lectures, in-depth learning objects, project work, job shadowing at the Course partners, study visits to museums, cultural institutions and corporate assets throughout Italy

Locations: Gallerie d'Italia - Milano and Gallerie d'Italia - Torino

Calendar: from 30 January to 23 May 2026 (Friday and Saturday in person from 9.30am to 6.30pm, six webinars on Fridays from 4.30pm to 7.30pm)

Participants will become part of the Gallerie d'Italia Academy Alumni community, created to offer continuous training and moments of discussion and networking between cultural operators. The nominative digital card offered to all Alumni allows access to exclusive benefits such as invitations to events, dedicated visits, reduced entry to the main Italian museum institutions.

COURSE PROGRAMME 2026

1. Culture and Corporate Social Responsibility

Stakeholder management and the socio-cultural aspects of businesses and enterprise foundations. CSR and Impact Investing. 

2. The regulatory framework and the management of private and public cultural heritage and activities

The theoretical framework of the general regulations governing, and the principal players involved in, the protection, management and promotion of privately-owned cultural heritage within a national and international context. Strategies for development at a local level and public-private partnerships.

3. The economic-financial and accounting aspects of cultural heritage and activities

Economic, financial, fiscal and accounting aspects, fair value revaluation of artistic-cultural assets, sector project management strategies.

4. Heritage Management

Practices for the protection, management and economic valorisation of historical-artistic and museum assets, digital valorisation and communication strategies, national and international best practices.

5. Collection management within the private and corporate sphere

The management of private and corporate collections: purchasing policies, digitalisation processes, cataloguing and storage methods, and international promotion processes. Examples and accounts.
