FROM MONTEVERDI TO MOZART - Awaiting the 30th anniversary of Spazio & Musica

Concerts, prizes for young people and initiatives for schools in Vicenza's most significant art venues. Two absolute geniuses who illuminated the European music scene in the early 17^th and late 18^th century - 150 years later. The festival also intends to pay due tribute to Alessandro Scarlatti three hundred years after the death of this composer whose art influenced entire generations of Baroque musicians and others. Established groups and young performers for a festival that intends to bring audiences of all ages closer to this extraordinary repertoire performed on original instruments.

In addition to performances of the music in the programme, the concert lessons include a presentation of the ensemble's authors and historical instruments, with a space dedicated to dialogue between students and performers.
The appointments, lasting approximately one hour, are reserved for students of primary and secondary schools in Vicenza and its Province.

Ciaccone, bergamasche and follie were all dances that were fashionable between the 16^th and 17^th centuries.

The “baroque” composers will take these well-known models and turn them into purely instrumental pieces: virtuosity, stage tricks and whatever else is needed to “amaze” the audience.

Among the immense Venetian production of the early 18^th century, the sonata for one or two violins and bass stands out. Alongside this formation, the cello also began to have its own “privileged space”.  Authors like Vivaldi, Marcello and others composed sonatas for cello in which this splendid instrument could bring exciting pages to life, freeing itself from the role of basso continuo.

“Trattenimenti armonici”, Tomaso Albinoni’s sixth work, is a collection of 12 sonatas for violin and bass.
