The public escapes of the couple that was on everyone's lips began on Saturday 29 August at the "Sea Club" in Monte Carlo. But the first photograph was taken on Thursday 3 September 1959 in Milan. Onassis arrived that afternoon from Venice in his personal plane. The two entered a Milanese night-club [the Montemerlo (Ed.)] at 10 p.m. They dined, danced, drank. They left five hours later and finally smiled at the photographer Nicola Giordano of Publifoto who was waiting for them. A short trip from the night club to the hotel, where the shipowner was staying, for a last "drink". The next day, Friday 4 September, the photographer was still waiting outside the hotel: and at 3.45 p.m. the couple came out and got into the car. Also on Friday. After a stop at the singer's house, here we are at Bresso airport. Maria Meneghini Callas says goodbye to the shipowner who is leaving for Venice in his seaplane. The few people present notice that the lady "is very emotional"."
