Anastasia Samoylova. Harbor

Date: Wednesday 21 October 2026
Time: 19:00–20:00
Format: talk and book signing
Speakers: Anastasia Samoylova, Emanuela Mazzonis di Pralafera and Mirjam Kooiman

On the occasion of the opening of the Anastasia Samoylova exhibition, the artist will engage in a discussion with Emanuela Mazzonis di Pralafera and Mirjam Kooiman to recount the genesis and development of Harbor, the project commissioned by Intesa Sanpaolo – Gallerie d'Italia.

A discussion about the journey through seven European port cities – Genoa, Venice, Rotterdam, Marseille, Lisbon, Athens and Istanbul – and about the distinctive perspective with which Samoylova interprets their identity and transformations. The artist constructs images in which time and space overlap, portraying the port as a physical infrastructure and, at the same time, as a symbolic landscape – a place of passage, exchange and contradictions. An opportunity to explore Samoylova’s photographic language, between documentary dimension and poetic vision, and the visual layers that invite the viewer to linger on the details and the myriad relationships that make up each image.

Afterwards, there will be a book signing for the exhibition's photographic book.

Searching for Europe

Date: Wednesday 4 November 2026
Time: 18:00–19:00
Format: documentary
Speakers: Alessandro Scillitani

Searching for Europe (Alla ricerca di Europa, Italy 2019, 64') by Alessandro Scillitani. A documentary to reflect on what Europe is and what it means to be European. Historian and skipper Piero Tassinari and writer Paolo Rumiz set sail aboard the boat Moya to seek the origins of Europa, who was born in the East and abducted by Zeus, who had transformed himself into a bull. Without GPS, guided only by the winds, a journey that also serves as a metaphor for the discovery of our roots.

Event in collaboration with the Associazione Museo Nazionale del Cinema
