Presentation of the photographic book “Archetipi” by Antonio Biasiucci

Date: 6 October 2026
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Format: Talk
Speakers: Antonio Biasiucci, in conversation with Tiziana Maffei

Antonio Biasiucci presents the book “Archetypes”, published by Allemandi, a journey through some of the central themes of his research: bread, volcanoes, skulls, bodies, water and organic and mineral fragments make up a primary alphabet of existence. The images, far removed from the documentary dimension, delve into matter to bring out primordial forms and deep-seated memories, in a continuous interplay of transformations and references between the individual and the collective, matter and landscape.

The photographer will be in conversation with Tiziana Maffei, Director of the Royal Palace of Caserta and curator of the Archetypes exhibition.

At the end of the event, there will be a book signing for the photographic book published by Allemandi.

Event in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei

Presentation of the book “La Nuova Alleanza” by Francesca Orsi

Date: 13 October 2026
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Format: talk
Speakers: Francesca Orsi, in conversation with Luigi Gariglio

Starting from the historical context of “Morire di classe” by Carla Cerati and Gianni Berengo Gardin and “Gli esclusi” by Luciano D'Alessandro, Francesco Orsi’s book explores the evolution of photography in the portrayal of mental illness, between the revolution of Franco Basaglia and new contemporary narratives. A journey through images, testimonies and reflections that brings the past and present into dialogue, exploring the role of photography as a tool for communication and the creation of a new iconography.

At the end of the event, there will be a book signing.

Event in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei.

Presentation of the photographic book “Attenzione bambini liberi” by Leonardo Galanti

Date: 27 October 2026
Time: 18:00-19:00
Format: Talk
Speakers: Leonardo Galanti and Antonio Biasiucci

“Attenzione bambini liberi” stems from Leonardo Galanti’s experience as an educator in Scampia, on the northern outskirts of Naples. In keeping with Felice Pignataro’s experience, the book uses photography to recount a journey shared with children, families and local community organisations, capturing gestures, relationships and ways of inhabiting spaces that escape the adult gaze.

Leonardo Galanti, winner of the 2025 Vera Maone Award, will discuss the book with photographer Antonio Biasiucci, founder of the Vera Maone Photography Award, as part of which the volume launches Postcart’s new series dedicated to young photographic talent.

At the end of the event, there will be a book signing for the photo book.

Event in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei.

Presentation of the photographic book “Down by the Hudson” by Caleb Stein

Date: 10 November 2026
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Format: talk
Speakers: Caleb Stein, in conversation with Rica Cerbarano

The photographer Caleb Stein presents his latest photography book, in conversation with the curator Rica Cerbarano.

Down by the Hudson (2013–2025) brings together over a decade of summers spent by Caleb Stein photographing a stream in Poughkeepsie, New York. Since 2013, Stein has returned to the same stretch of water every year, observing the recurring rituals of friendship, sociability and care that define this shared space. What began as a documentary project gradually evolved into a lyrical and delicate tribute to freedom and the Edenic sense of community that this place evokes. The book is published by Palo Gallery Press and includes previously unpublished texts by Amitava Kumar, Anita N. Bateman and Matt Carey-Williams, as well as an interview with Daniel Wolff.

The event will be held in English.

At the end of the event, there will be a book signing for the photo book.

Event in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei

THE VISIONEER’S JOURNEY with Frankie Caradonna

Date: 17 November 2026
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Format: Talk
Speakers: Frankie Caradonna

As part of the collaboration between Gallerie d'Italia and the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin, events are being organised for students, with the aim of enriching their educational and academic experience through opportunities for in-depth study, discussion and dialogue with artists, curators and professionals from the art world.

What is reality if not a constant tension between objective perception and sensory illusion? This talk explores the figure of the visionary, director, photographer and manipulator of form, understood as an interpreter of a reality that every creature decodes in a different way, even though they are moving in the same tangible space.

The semantics of vision: an exploration of the boundary between the substance of the world and its representation. Through the myth of Plato’s cave and the physiological deception of cinema, vision is revealed not as a mere visual recording, but as an ontological act of rewriting reality.

The grammar of language and the archetype of the Magician: the creator moves like the Magician of the Tarot, an alchemist who must know, master and respect the tools of his trade in order to evolve along a path of learning studded with allies and antagonists. Cinema, as the supreme synthesis of the visual and narrative arts, has a rigorous code and an indispensable grammar. However, the true enlightenment of the visionary lies not in blind obedience to the rules, but in the ability to assimilate them to the point of being able to break them.

From rupture to creative catharsis: theoretical reflection finds its fulfilment in an autobiographical passage, a complex personal and existential transition, intertwined with the historic upheaval in the photography market as it shifted from analogue to digital. This crisis led to the rediscovery of the pure joy of the creative act, which took shape in the fine art project No Guns For Dillinger and in the encounter with a master of analogue photography, Colin Jones.

To conclude the talk, the short documentary film “The End Of Photography”, dedicated to Colin Jones, will be screened. It is a visual testimony to how reality, vision and the creative act are a karmic, ontological and cathartic blend.

Event in collaboration with the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin.

Presentation of the book “Luigi Ghirri. L'anello della visione” by Lisa Nico

Date: 24 November 2026
Time: 18:00-19:00
Format: Talk
Speakers: Lisa Nico, in conversation with Angela Madesani

An event dedicated to Luigi Ghirri and his unique way of looking at the landscape. Starting with the book “Luigi Ghirri. The Ring of Vision”, author Lisa Nico, in conversation with Angela Madesani, will retrace the artistic and intellectual journey of the great photographer, exploring the relationship between photography, vision and thought, and the ongoing quest for a way of seeing that can reveal the complexity of the world through the simplicity of the image. A book signing is scheduled at the end of the talk.

The power of Luigi Ghirri’s photographs tends to be concentrated in an unexpected revelation, a “simple” epiphany that nevertheless never fails to amaze us with its richness. Until now, there has been no essay capable of reconstructing Ghirri’s artistic and intellectual journey, following the evolution of his path step by step. Starting with the writings of the great photographer, the reader is guided into the studio where the “magic” of his images is born. By showing how epistemological depth fuels creativity, and how creativity in turn enriches theoretical reflection, “Luigi Ghirri. The Ring of Vision” not only conveys Ghirri’s artistic stature, but also the originality and clarity of his thinking.

At the end of the event, there will be a book signing.

Event in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei.

Eleonora Roaro: the recursive archive

Date: 1 December 2026
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Format: Talk
Speakers: Eleonora Roaro

As part of the collaboration between Gallerie d'Italia and the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin, events are offered for students, with the aim of enriching their educational and academic experience through opportunities for in-depth study, discussion and dialogue with artists, curators and professionals from the art world.

The talk focuses on Eleonora Roaro’s artistic practice, starting with her use of archival material, with particular attention to cinema and its ability to construct, preserve and transform the imaginary. The archive is not intended solely as a record of the past, but as a performative device capable of generating new images, narratives and experiences. Through selection, editing, reactivation, restaging or remediation, the archive is, in fact, continually rewritten. The artist is thus interested in the archive’s ability to produce new forms of memory and interpretation of truth, as in “FIAT 633NM” (2021) and “Cinema Statuto” (2023), and to investigate the gap between what has been documented, what has been removed and what can still be imagined, as in “Odeon VR” (2022) and “LA NUBE” (2025).

Event in collaboration with the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin.

Presentation of the photographic book “Silent Theatres” by Giovanni Maria Sacco

Date: 15 December 2026
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Format: Talk
Speakers: Giovanni Maria Sacco, in conversation with Carola Allemandi

In “Silent Theatres”, Giovanni Maria Sacco uses images to convey the silence and slow decay of abandoned factories, places once bustling with people, voices and activity. The ruins thus become a metaphor for the end of human activity and, more profoundly, for death, but also an opportunity to recognise an unexpected form of dignity and beauty in decay.

The author and photographer will discuss the meaning of these places and the relationship between photography, memory and time with curator Carola Allemandi.

At the end of the event, there will be a book signing for the photo book.

Event in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei

Presentation of the photographic book “Vendo Casa” by Stefano Vigni

Date: 12 January 2027
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Format: Talk
Speakers: Stefano Vigni, in conversation with Antonio Carloni

In “Vendo Casa” (For Sale), Stefano Vigni uses photography to depict the transitional period associated with the sale of a family home. The images convey the emotional weight held within domestic spaces and transform the detachment from a place into a journey through memory, relationships and feelings, between melancholy and the possibility of change.

Stefano Vigni will talk to Antonio Carloni, Deputy Director of Gallerie d'Italia – Turin and an expert in contemporary photography, about the project and the relationship between photography, memory and the emotional dimension of spaces.

At the end of the event, there will be a book signing for the photo book.

Event in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei

Presentation of the photographic book “The Redemption of Nature” by Stefano Cerio

Date: 19 January 2027
Time: 18:00-19:00
Format: Talk
Speakers: Stefano Cerio, in conversation with Angela Madesani

In “The Redemption of Nature”, Stefano Cerio explores the Mediterranean regions affected by major wildfires, focusing his gaze not on the destruction but on nature's ability to regenerate and slowly reclaim its spaces. Between Sicily and Sardinia, the images depict ecological succession through suspended landscapes where the signs of fire coexist with the first shoots of rebirth.

The photographer will discuss the relationship between photography, landscape and the transformation of nature with Angela Madesani.

At the end of the event, there will be a book signing for the photography book.

Event in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei

Beyond the Fractured Digital Image with Rosa Menkman

Date: 26 January 2027
Time: 18:00–19:00
Format: Talk
Speakers: Rosa Menkman

What does it mean for an image to be resolved? Rather than viewing resolution simply as the number of pixels or the quality of an image, Rosa Menkman interprets it as a temporary compromise determined by technical limitations, standards, infrastructure and intended uses. By comparing her early work on glitches with her more recent research on compression, calibration, im/possible images and computational imaging, the talk examines how images become distinguishable and usable by specific audiences and for specific purposes. Questions are raised about what is preserved, what is compromised, and who or what has the power to determine when an image can be considered “resolved”. Moving from optical limitations and codecs to platform infrastructures and synthetic images, the talk explores how different modes of resolution determine what an image can show, preserve or do.

The event will be held in English.

Event in collaboration with the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin.

Presentation of the photographic book “Corazonada” by Giulia Gatti

Date: 2 February 2027
Time: 18:00-19:00
Format: Talk
Speakers: Giulia Gatti, in conversation with Agnese Porto

Giulia Gatti’s debut work, “Corazonada”, explores the myth of matriarchy in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec through an intimate dialogue between body, performance and identity. Conceived during a period of research in Mexico, the project explores the representation of femininity and challenges prejudices and archetypes, using photography to portray a plurality of powerful, independent and self-aware female figures.

Giulia Gatti will talk to Agnese Porto about the project and the relationship between photography, identity and the representation of the feminine.

At the end of the event, there will be a book signing for the photo book.

Event in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei

Presentation of the book “Immagini infestate" by Sara Benaglia

Date: 9 February 2027
Time: 18:00-19:00
Format: talk
Speakers: Sara Benaglia, in conversation with Rica Cerbarano

What is left out of the image when we look at a photograph? “Immagini infestate” (Haunted Images) invites us to look beyond what the photographic image shows, to question everything that influences its creation: materials, technologies, infrastructures, culture and power relations. Taking the book as their starting point, author Sara Benaglia and curator Rica Cerbarano will reflect on how photography and our way of producing and looking at images are changing in the present day.

At the end of the event, there will be a book signing.

Event in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei
