Marubi National Museum of Photography, Shkodër, Albania
From 20 December 2024 to 16 March 2025
As part of its traveling exhibitions project, Gallerie d'Italia presents Gregory Crewdson. Eveningside at the Marubi Museum in Shkodër, Albania. Starting from December 20, it will be possible to visit the exhibition curated by Jean-Charles Vergne, featuring 15 photographic works previously displayed in Gallerie d'Italia - Torino.
Gregory Crewdson (*1962, Brooklyn) is an internationally acclaimed photographer. Over the past three decades, Crewdson has been fleshing out a portrait of middle America, that America of picket-fence suburbia gazing wide-eyed at the glimmers of a fading dream which has long since faded and wilted.
This exhibition brings together works from the three series created between 2012 and 2022. Envisaged as a trilogy, they offer unique insight into a decade of creation, and reveal the two central axes – intimate and political – of the universe that has posited Gregory Crewdson as one of the major figures of photography.
Developed from a project by Gallerie d'Italia - Turin, Italy (2022), the Rencontres Photographiques d'Arles in Arles, France (2023), and the VB Photography Center in Kuopio, Finland (2024), and now the Marubi National Museum of Photography that helps to showcase the work of one of America's most influential photographers.
