"Luca Campigotto. Wandering Europe" exhibition in Turin

Gallerie d'Italia - Turin presents the exhibition “Luca Campigotto. Wandering Europe”, curated by Walter Guadagnini and open to the public from October 2026 to 7 February 2027, as part of the project coordinated by Roberto Koch "La Grande Fotografia Italiana”.

Commissioned by Intesa Sanpaolo – Gallerie d’Italia, Luca Campigotto embarks on a journey through a physical, political and emotional Europe, exploring the past, present and future. From the far eastern borders between Turkey, Armenia and Georgia, to the ocean off the western coasts of Portugal and France; from the far north of the Svalbard Islands to the south of Lampedusa and the slopes of Mount Etna, Campigotto moves with a keen eye, observing not only nature but also the vestiges of the past and the contemporary world.

The Europe that emerges from these pictures is characterised by infinite variety and surprising parallels between places that are as geographically distant from each other as they are historically; a Europe in which the grandeur of centuries past and the tragedies of times much closer to our own are visible, and often overlap.

The exhibition brings together over sixty images that confirm the fact Europe cannot be summed up by a single definition, highlighting its many different natures and identities, transformed by Campigotto’s photography into pictures that are both stunning and deeply meaningful. 

Luca Campigotto was born in Venice in 1962 and lives in Milan and New York.
After earning a degree in Modern History, with a thesis on travel literature in the age of the great geographic discoveries, he turned his focus to landscape photography, completing projects all over the world.

Campigotto created the 2014 Epson calendar and the 2016 GEO Special-New York calendar.
In 2015, he received the Hemingway Prize for best photography book.

A dedicated writer as well, his poetry has appeared in Nuovi Argomenti, and his writings are collected in the volume Disoriente.

Campigotto’s work has been the subject of exhibitions at numerous museums and institutions, including:
