When space is art. A story to rediscover, between economy and culture

The story of the construction of the building designed by Beltrami, on the occasion of MUSEOCITY 2022

The Gallerie d’Italia of Milan are participating in the cultural initiative MUSEOCITY 2022 dedicated to the theme of “The Rooms of Art”, by offering, from 4 March onwards, in conjunction with Intesa Sanpaolo’s Historical Archives, the exhibition entitled “When space is art. A story to rediscover, between economy and culture”.
The story tells, through photos and drawings conserved in Intesa Sanpaolo’s Historical Archives, of the various phases in the construction of the building designed by Luca Beltrami (1854-1933), starting from its construction, in the period between 1906 and 1911, as the headquarters of Banca Commerciale Italiana, up to the recent alterations that transformed it into Intesa Sanpaolo’s prestigious Milan museum.
