Art and nature at Gallerie d'Italia - Napoli

The Gallerie d’Italia - Naples are the setting for an installation created by Aboca which represents a response to the restrictions and potential of a space: a work which combines nature, art and geometry, capable of engaging with the rationalist monumentality of the hall and with its controlled light, becoming a symbolic and contemporary sign.

The installation represents the principle of self-organisation behind living systems. The dodecahedron, symbol of harmony and universality, originates from the organic growth of plants. The ancients thought that this figure was linked to ether, an element that unites the cosmos and brings order to it, expressing the link between the individual and the whole.

The dodecahedron, echoing the proportions illustrated by Luca Pacioli in De Divina Proportione and drawn by Leonardo da Vinci, bears witness to the close relationship between science, art and nature, promoting an idea of universal harmony where humanity and nature are parts of a single organism, in a dynamic balance that generates beauty and knowledge.
The olive tree, the heart of the work, symbolises peace, wisdom and rebirth, embodying the creative power of nature.
In the same way, in natura naturans, life organises itself spontaneously into form, matter becomes thought and nature reveals itself as universal intelligence.

This is the vision of Aboca: nature as a living system, capable of self-regeneration and of maintaining, in its perpetual evolution, the balance that sustains all forms of life.
