ALLEMANDI

The Gallerie d'Italia - Milan, from 6 February to 3 May 2026, present the exhibition "The Road to Cortina. VII Olympic Winter Games 1956" curated by Aldo Grasso, to mark the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, of which Intesa Sanpaolo is Banking Premium Partner. The exhibition falls within the scope of the Milano Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad programme.

The subject is the First Winter Olympics held in Italy: Cortina d'Ampezzo 1956

The photographic exhibition showcases the photo shoots produced by the Publifoto Agency during the first Winter Olympics held in Italy, in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956.

With black and white photographs and a few colour images, the exhibition retraces the event held seventy years ago, starting with the build-up to the Olympic Games, with the construction of the Ice Stadium and the Italian Ski Jump, then focusing, with the arrival of the Olympic flame and the opening ceremony, on what went on behind the scenes of the competitions, right through to the closing night: evocative images of athletes training or in their free time, of the spectators and the reporters alternate with photographs requested by companies to promote their brands within the world's most important sporting event, hosted in a pivotal year of what was known as Italy's “economic miracle”.
