In May 2022, to mark the bicentenary of Antonio Canova's death, who died in Venice on 13 October 1822, the Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa is organising a study conference entitled IL GENIO UNIVERSALE DI CANOVA.
Intesa Sanpaolo is the Main Sponsor of the initiative.
The three-day conference will involve many international scholars and will take place at the Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa, the Gypsotheca of Possagno and Gallerie d'Italia - Vicenza.

To mark the bicentenary of Antonio Canova's death, the city of Bassano del Grappa and the municipality of Possagno – whose Canova collections form, together, a unique exhibit of the artist’s works, extremely important for the study and the research on the sculplutres art in its entierly – are celebrating Canova's genius with an international study conference that will bring together leading experts to present the results of the most up-to-date research on the artist and his contemporary historical context. In particular, new developments that have emerged in recent years from studies into sources and Canova's exhibition history and fortunes between the 19th and 20th centuries, including those relating to the global scene, will be presented and discussed.
